Learn what it takes to climb the granite spires in British Columbia, El Capitan in Yosemite the red sand stone walls of the southwest or possibly the local crag in Berkeley. This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to lead and follow climbs on your own! You will gather a foundation in setting anchors, belaying, rappelling,multi-pitch climbing and placing traditional gear. Not only are you going to learn these technical abilities, but you'll also learn basic face and crack climbing techniques. Needless to say, after this course you can go out on your own, and experience the joy of climbing safely!

The seminar covers all the essentials including:

 Rock climbing techniques
· Belaying 
· Rappelling 
· Knots 
· Rope management 
· Climbing commands

  • Anchoring techniques
  • Types of climbing systems
  • Advanced face climbing techniques
  • Advanced crack climbing techniques
  • Setting protection (cams and nuts) on lead
  • Rest techniques

The class is taught at Pinnacles National Monument which is located apx 1and half hours south east of Santa Cruz or 2 hours South from San Francisco. Pinnacles offers by far the highest quality and concentration of rock climbs close to the Bay Area.

Treks and Tracks provides all safety equipment including personal safety devices such as climbing shoes, helmets, harnesses and belay devices.
