Our Avalanche clinic is ideal for back country skiers, snowboarders and mountaineers.

In this course you will learn the signs that point to avalanche hazards, as well as how to evaluate terrain, weather factors, and other signs that may point out hazards.

We will cover and practice avalanche rescue using beacon, probe and shovel.

You will learn about:

  • Risks associated with skiing out of bounds
  • Planning your out of bounds skiing
  • How to interpret Avalanche Bulletins and recognizing clues of avalanche danger
  • Identifying avalanche terrain
  • Travel techniques in avalanche terrain
  • Rescue equipment for out-of-bounds travel
  • Demonstration of an avalanche rescue
