This adventure is for skiers who want to experience authentic backcountry skiing in the heart of the Alps.
We do most of our skiing out of the town of Solden from where our local guides will take us to the most pristine and hidden gems in the region. We explore untoutched snow and explore the different glaciers and ski fields in Oetztal.
This is an opportunity to experience the chore culture of skiing in the Alps while learning essential backcountry ski and ski mountaineering skills from the best guides in the industry!
Day 1: Arrive in Innsbruck. After settling into our rooms we have Dinner together, where we each get a chance to get to know each other.
Day 2: We have a leisurely breakfast at our hotel. At 9 am we board our bus which will take us to meet our Guide in Solden. We get to our new rooms where we get ready to hit the slopes after lunch. We spend the day stretching our legs on Austrian high alpine snow. Our Guide will ease us into new terrain as we a first taste of some awesome off-piste skiing. After Dinner you can explore the town of Solden or relax in the hot tub and sauna.
Day 3: Breakfast is at 8 am and eat up, because today our Guide will take us to some local secret places most people never get to ski! As we ski our guide will go over some of the basic techniques that will be necessary for skiing in the backcountry.
Day 4: : Breakfast is at 8 am and eat up once again, because today we’ll really start exploring some of the best Solden’s ski areas have to offer. This will also give us a chance to practice some of our off-piste and glacier skills that we’ll use on our adventure into the backcountry.
Day 5: Today is a rest day. This is a great chance to check out the shops and other activities in town.
Day 6: Today we make our way into the backcountry where we will experience truly untracked snow. We go to the Heidelbergerhütte, which is our base for the next two days. Our guide will take us into amazing terrain where we can discover why the Alps are the birth place of recreational skiing.
Day 7: Today we leave early to tackle one of the Austrian greats. The Wildspitze (3770m) is northern Tirol’s highest mountains and just 28 m shy of being Austria’s highest mountain.
Day 8: After a restful night in the hut we have a great descent from the mountain top all the way to the valley. This is an awesomely long descent.
Day 9: After breakfast we take the shuttle back to Innsbruck.
