Experience the majestic beauty of backpacking in the High Sierra!

This trip is designed for beginning to intermediate backpackers in good physical condition.

This trip covers the fundamentals of backpacking including:

  • Navigation in the backcountry
  • Wilderness safety protocols
  • Leave no trace principals
  • Backcountry cooking techniques
  • Backpacking tips and tricks

Join us as we venture forth into the high altitude regions of Sequoia National Park. We make our way to the upper regions of the park passing through magnificent redwood forests, wandering by spectacular waterfalls and taking in the awesome views of the great divide.  This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the Sierra at its most pristine. Come and enjoy this great trip with us.

This is a 4-day backpacking trip that requires some pre-planning. As soon as you register we will send you a full equipment list and clothing list as well as recommended conditioning suggestions to ensure a successful experience for you.

What we provide

Professional and experience guides, permits and camping fees. Breakfast, Lunche, snacks and dinners on all hiking days.

Skills Learned: Backcountry skills, campsite assessment, bear proofing your campsite, camp stove use and maintenance, backcountry safety, map reading, Leave no Trace camping and wilderness ethics.

What to bring

A backpack, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad, flashlight or a headlamp, a water bottle or hydration pack that can carry at least 3 liters of water.

Clothing: you want to pack as lightly as possible.  Here are some suggestions: 2 pairs socks, shorts or pants to hike in, light shirt for hiking, underwear (sports bra recommended), sunglasses and/or hat with brim.

Camp clothes: Long pants, shirt, fleece or other warm top layer, warm hat,light synthetic or silk long underwear. Flip-flops or sandals are good to have after a long day in hiking boots. Rain gear.

Toiletries: Bring the basics, such as a toothbrush, glasses/contact lense solution, toilet paper, prescription medications (be sure to let us know of any medications you are taking). A lightweight bowl, spoon/fork and cup, and a pocket knife for meals. Extra plastic bags, small ones for food and garbage, and bigger ones to line your pack and keep your gear dry
